About Us
|
John Hein Lumber Co. moved to Tony, WI. in 1897. They built and operated 2 sawmills, a planing mill, heading mill and stave mill as well as a logging railroad. Headings and staves for barrels were cut and shaped at the steam plant, then they were shipped elsewhere for completion. There was a good market for this product since many items such as flour, sugar, salt and crackers and etc. were shipped in barrels. Lumber for the mill was transported on the Tony and North Eastern Railroad.
Over the years, and with changes of ownership, the saw mill is gone, and Tony Lumber & Supply has become a feed mill and hardware store as well as a lumber yard.
